Chestnuts – New England Fiddle Tune Repertoire with Emily Troll!

Chestnuts are just as delightful as they sound! These are charming and driving New England tunes, designed particularly for social dancing. In class, we’ll learn the tunes and get a sense of the dances they might match. All of the Chestnuts we are learning are commonly played in Contra Dance.

Tunes will be taught by ear in small chunks, with style tips along the way, and maybe even a few harmonies. In this first session, we will learn Chorus Jig, Opera Reel, Batchelder’s and Lamplighters. Start the New Year with something New England! Class level is suitable for Beginner / Intermediate. You should have a basic understanding of your instrument.

Class tuition is $95 for 4 one hour classes, every Wednesday in January (sliding scale is available, please email me if you’re in need).

*Please note that class has a minimum attendace of 6. If we do not meet the minimum class requirement it will be canceled and you will immediately receive a full refund.
